Introductory Services for Coaches

First Time Coaching clinics for the parent volunteer

We bring a wealth of international coaching experience to the fore in the coaching services we provide. We believe that providing the highest level of training to coaches can ensure a bright future for soccer in Canada. Coaching the coaches is the first step in providing the parent coach with motivational activities which will help them with the 5 and 6 year old children in their care. This is our Intro to Coaching Clinic.

Following our Intro Clinic we provide detailed "Theme" Clinics such as: Shooting, Defending as a Unit (Back 4), Defending as a Whole Team, Midfield Roles and Responsibilities, Goalkeeper and the Defence etc. These clinics are Adult and Continuing Education oriented.

Intermediate and Advanced Services for Coaches

Preparatory Course for B.Prep and B.License

The coaches for whom these courses are designed will have taken the CSA/Ontario Soccer Association Community Level 1, 2, and 3 Certification Courses. They are looking to progress in the actual teaching process since the OSA and CSA Courses can’t provide sufficient training due to their short duration and their intense content.

For the more experienced coach who wants to progress to a B.License Preparatory Course or Provincial B License we can provide Fall and Winter Weekly Coaching Development Programs or a Mentorship experience through the Summer Soccer Season.

Futsal Services for Coaches

Courses for coaches wishing to teach Futsal

Recently the Ottawa Carleton Futsal League contracted Harrison Soccer to design and develop an Introduction to Futsal and a Futsal Further Development Course. Tony followed this by attending the 1st ever FIFA Futsal Instructors Course in Laval Quebec. Coach Alex Yanez, one of Harrison Soccer's Staff Coaches also attended the course. This will further enhance the teaching repertoire of Harrison Soccer.

New Coach Training and Soccer School Program with a new curriculum

Designed for the CSA, OSA, and Coaching Association of Canada's Long Term Athlete Development Program

Following our success with the Futsal Course and the training provided to the coaches of the Ottawa Carleton Futsal League (see our Hinton Futsal Production), Harrison Soccer and Carleton Place Soccer Club last May 2011 launched a New Coach Training and Soccer School Program with a new curriculum which fits perfectly with the Long Term Athlete Development Program being introduced by the CSA, OSA, and Coaching Association of Canada in 2012.

This puts the parent coaches of the Carleton Place Soccer School ahead of the game. It's not often that a small rural club can claim to be in the forefront of innovation, and yet, with the guidance from Harrison Soccer's Technical Director Tony Harrison, the Carleton Place kids are off to a fun filled active start to their journey in sport.

Emphasis is on the Movement Approach to Physical Education and Coaches are encouraged to be creative in bringing physical challenges to their young charges.

At the Early Stages of a child’s life it is essential that a wide spectrum of movement activities are explored.

The parent coaches of young children 4-6 years of age must act as leaders but a little like a Pied Piper. The music provided is the sheer enjoyment of running, jumping, rolling, landing, twisting, turning, throwing, catching, and kicking.

The teaching/coaching methods provided in the Harrison Soccer Coaches Training Course which the Carleton Place Coaches attended for half a day exemplified a more Holistic approach to the Adult Education of our Initiate Coach Development Program.

Group work and interaction replaced the more direct approach used in the past. The coaches planned and experienced lessons they would be presenting to their children in the Soccer School using a wide variety of equipment, activities, and a dynamic approach suited to the learning stage of these young participants.

Watch our video (below) and you'll see how Hinton Productions has captured the fun of good coaching in a player centred learning environment where the kids don't just kick a soccer ball! They explore the qualities of movement with a soccer ball. They participate together, and the emphasis is on "together", with their parent coaches for an hour of physical endeavour culminating in a soccer like game where they can chase a ball along with their peers and go home happy.
